FAQ & Schedule

There will be no Chili Cookoff for 2018

1) Can contestants use your electric to keep the chili at the proper temperature, since generators are not permissible?
NO – Cooks must provide canned Sterno and chafing dishes. ( NEW INFO: A limited number of spaces are available with electric service. There is a nominal additional cost of $10. Please check the appropriate button when you complete your entry form.)

2) Are tables set up inside?
YES – Tables will be assigned in order of registration. Your table assignment will be provided upon your arrival.

3) Contestants are required to supply the cups and spoons for tastings. What size do you recommend?
4-ounce

4) How much chili should be prepared? How much salsa?
3 gallons of chili. 1-1/2 gallons of salsa.

5) Will cold drinks be provided for purchase?
YES. The Casino will provide a cash bar  including soft drinks and bottled water.

6) Is there recognition for best decorated table?
NO, however your decorations may be considered in judging for all awards, especially the People’s Choice Chili award.

The Day’s Schedule

2:00 PM – Set Up Begins for all contestants.
When you arrive, sign in at the Main Registration desk.
Your table number and area will be assigned to you.
There will be members of the Chili Cook-off Staff to help you find your spot.
The Cook-off Staff will be wearing RED Chili Cook-off Staff T-shirts.

4:00 PM – Doors open. Chili Cook Off Begins
If you need additional info, a Staff member will be at the Main Registration desk throughout the event.

4:15 pm – you will be required to have ready a one cup container, with the number ticket applied to container, of your chili and/or salsa for the judging table.
There, it will be tasted by all the judges and compared with all the other chili/salsa Contestants’ entries.

4:30 PM  Chili Judging Begins
The alternate judges will visit your booth and judge it on décor & presentation. Do your best to impress them.

6:30 PM – Contest ends. Winners Announced and Prizes awarded.
The party continues until 7:00 PM.

7:00 PM –Clean up and Take Down of all Contestant areas Begins.

8:00 – all contestants, public, and crew exit Casino by or before 8:00
